With a vector file, you have a vector format that can be scaled at any time. When resizing, distances, not pixels, are changed. If the vector files were created with Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or CorelDraw (.cdr) for example, these source files also remain editable. Vector images require less storage space because the amount of information to be stored for an image is less than for pixel ones. However, they have a technical disadvantage since they still have to resort to dithering to display even the largest vector images.
There are different paid and free software on the market that allows you to create vector images. In the professional field, we use Adobe Illustrator. It is also possible to create vector images with Adobe Photoshop. As a free vector illustration program, Inkscape offers a range of great features, including SVG compatibility.
