Since 2021, it is possible to change the YouTube channel name without changing the name of the associated Google account. To change your YouTube channel name, simply access your channel through your profile picture and then open Settings.

- Click on your profile picture at the top right and select “ YouTube Studio « .
- Click on “ Personalization » in the menu on the left.
- Enter your desired new name for your channel under “Name”. You can also change your username, your pronouns or the description of your YouTube channel. Click on “ Publish » to save the changes.

Change the name of your YouTube channel via the browser
Step 1: Access YouTube Studio
Click on your profile picture at the top right, then select “ YouTube Studio » in the drop-down menu that appears.
Click on your profile picture and navigate to YouTube Studio from the drop-down menu.
Step 2: Select “Personalization”
You are now in the official management interface for content creators on YouTube. Click on the button “ Personalization » in the menu on the left.

Step 3: Change Your YouTube Channel Name
In the « Profile » tab, click on the input field below « Name » and enter the new name of your choice. The name can be changed twice every 14 days.
On the “Identifier” line you can also adjust the so-called YouTube handle. Unlike the username, the handle is unique and modifies your account URL. Once modified, you have 14 days to revert to the old identifier. The identifier can be changed twice within a 14-day period.
Further down, you also have the possibility to freely modify your pronouns, as well as the description of your channel.

What is the difference between channel name and id?
The channel name is the display name of your channel. It appears on your channel page, under your videos, and in search results. It is not unique, which means that multiple channels can have the same name. Your identifier, also called handle, on the other hand, constitutes a unique identifier starting with “@”. It is used in the channel URL, in mentions and in comments.
