NoSQL: function and advantages of NoSQL databases

PARTAGEZ

Unlike relational SQL databases, NoSQL databases do not use traditional tables (rows and columns) for data storage. They organize large volumes of data using flexible techniques, such as documents, charts, value pairs, and columns. In this sense, NoSQL systems are perfectly suited to applications requiring the processing of large volumes of data on the basis of flexible structures. Since NoSQL systems leverage a hardware cluster and cloud server, abilities are distributed in such a way uniform and the database runs smoothly even with high data volumes. Unlike relational databases that quickly lose power as the volume of data increases, NoSQL databases are a powerful, flexible and scalable solution for storing large amounts of data.

One of the peculiarities of NoSQL systems is, moreover, their ability to horizontal sizing. Relational SQL databases are sized vertically. Their entire performance relies on a single server. To increase their capacity, it is necessary to invest in a more powerful server, which, over time, is not only more expensive, but also limits the possibilities of application development. NoSQL solutions typically distribute their data across multiple servers. In the event of an increase in data volume, new servers can then easily be added. NoSQL databases can therefore store and process large volumes of data without any problems. They are therefore particularly suitable for Big Data applications.
